LOOSE ENDS 'HOMECOMING SHOW Celebrating 40th Anniversary of Slowdown'
Loose Ends are one of the most successful British R'n'B bands ever - formed in 1980 and signed to Virgin Records in 1981. Many urban contemporary hits followed, 2 Number 1's in the USA - released in 1985 'Hanging on a String' and in 1986 'Slowdown'. Both singles reached the Top 20 in the UK and cemented the bands place as 'THE' UK Soul Band.
Loose Ends are the first British R'n'B band to have a number 1 gold selling album in the US going on to sell millions.
In the late 1980s, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol left the group, fellow founder member Carl McIntosh went on to create and produce the 'Look How Long' album released in 1990, with the hit single 'Don't Be A Fool' reaching no. 13 in the UK charts and no. 10 in the US. Laying to rest the assumption that the group had broken up.
The album features many of the UK's top vocalists Laurenea Wilkerson, Linda Carriere, Christine Levin, and Sunay Suleyman. Carl McIntosh's musicianship, singing, songwriting and production can also be heard on songs by Caron Wheeler, Ruth Joy, 5-Star, Phylis Hyman, D'Angello, Angie Stone and Leon Ware to name a few.
Carl's work can be heard throughout early releases prior to 1980 right up to the present. And he is currently in the studio writing new songs for the singles and album to follow with his current band members, Linda Carriere and Christine Levin.
The band have worked tirelessly over the last few years - lead by Carl with a settled line up, initially playing as a 3 piece at UK Soul Festivals, however, the reaction to the name 'Loose Ends' has persuaded Carl to enhance the band and become a fully fledged 'live band' for concert performances. Over the past 2 years the band has played as 'special guests' to the like of USA legendary soul outfits Change and The SOS Band on both occasions have left the audience wanting more.
Now for this special show at Broadway, Carl is returning home to perform for the first time ever in his home borough. He has lived locally in Lewisham shortly after the band were first signed and has driven and walked past the outside of the theatre on hundreds of occasions. Now he comes with Loose Ends to play inside the theatre for the first time.
