Anatomy of a Black Rebellion
Anatomy of a Black Rebellion is a queer takeover of the plantation rebellion story set in Barbados in the 18th century. It follows the story of four enslaved Africans who must orchestrate a fire that engulfs the sugar cane plantation they live and work on. As the night progresses, we witness their tussle with the paradoxical uncertainty of working to forge new futures, whilst living in a present that, while deeply imperfect, is home. Set in a vegetable garden, this work-in-progress sharing immerses us in a world couched at the intersection of kinship with land, comradeship, love, liberty and trying to protect soft souls in moments of violence.
