IRIE! dance theatre present: GROUNDATION Dancing from the Archive
GROUNDATION Dancing from the Archive combined movement and dance with live drumming and percussions demonstrating the resilience, beauty, and energy of Dance of the African Diaspora as a new generation of performers investigate the rituals, traditions and heritage that shape black identity. The production brings together a collection of West African traditional dances and Caribbean folk dances, that represent social, ritual and religious rites. These dances are the foundation of the movement language and style of IRIE! dance theatre. Each dance displays a journey or cultural shift in African and Caribbean history, thereby guarding the stories for us now and for those that are yet to come.
